Is my shirt red? Wait, my shirt’s red right?
From the Mobile Suit in Action line for the series Gundam SEED Destiny, which I believe, was actually available at US retail for a time.
Yeah, so I don’t actually like Gundam. But these guys were on clearance and are clearly cannon fodder, despite supposedly being upgrades to a primary mech or something.
Looks-wise, the Dagger is very generic. It’s got the typical Gundam stylings, but is bland enough that it can pass off as a non-Gundam. In fact, it’s this faceless minioness that resulted in me buying 3 of ’em for army building purposes.
But don’t let the above paragraph sour you on the Dagger. There is merit, even in generic-ness. As said, they make great cannon fodder, and it’s not like it’s not an attractive figure overall. Not to mention, it’s fairly sturdy.
Being a standard sized MSiA, the Dagger isn’t much bigger than a Transformers Basic.
Articulation is pretty good as well. It’s very complete and the Dagger’s big feet helps a lot with the balance.
Accessories-wise, the Dagger is pretty impressive. Pimped out with his rocket pack, he almost looks like a main character. This category is where a lot of the cost is justified for the figure. The Dagger might be just the size of a TF Basic, but with its articulation and loads of accessories, not to mention high end construction, it’s of higher value than either TF Basic or even Star Wars or G.I. Joe.
Oh yeah, that’s the other thing. I got mine on clearance, because as I said, I’m not a Gundam fan. But even at full retail, these guys only cost about the same as TF Basics or Marvel Universe figures. If you can find them for about that price or cheaper online, I’d recommend ’em. It’ll be worth the price.
A good toy, I have no complaints about it. The Dagger’s a tad vanilla, but that makes it appropriate for Stormtroopiness. If you can find ’em for a good price, they’re recommended, especially if you’re a Gundam fan. For non-fans like myself, original retail is about as much as I’m willing to pay.
Pros: Looks good with good articulation and plenty of accessories.
