Chun Li review at Scary Crayon

Ordinarily, I don’t plug reviews, but check out the Chun Li review at Scary Crayon. If nothing else, the amount of work that went into it is quite impressive. It’s also notable for being the only review out there that’s made me give a dang heck about NECA’s Chun Li, and a lot of that has to do with the Sprite Comparison Poses you’ll find in the review. I don’t know, NECA’s Chun Li still looks “off” to me, but check the review out and see if it changes your mind any.

Yeah. I don’t care for that face. I get what the dude’s saying about it looking good when in profile, but straight on? Makes her look as much like a neanderthal as the shotokan figures do. Which is a shame because the figure looks awesome despite that flaw, but its a big enough flaw to make me not want it.

Thanks for the plug, Up-dude! :)

Landon: Regarding Chun’s face, it’s grown on me completely even from the front now — she looks a bit wide-eyed, but I wouldn’t call her neanderthal by any means. (Ryu and Guile totally do look neanderthal, though again — and especially with Guile — that goes away in angled and profile shots.) I think maybe photos don’t accurately capture the depth of the sculpt, since the figure looks better to me in person (paint issues notwithstanding) than any photo I’ve seen.

I’m not getting paid by NECA to plug these things, I swear. ;)
